Choosing the right sink trap or waste fitting
Most kitchen sink traps and waste kits use 40mm / 1½ inch waste pipe, while many basin traps use 32mm / 1¼ inch waste pipe. Before ordering, check the size of your existing waste pipe, the type of fitting you are replacing and the space available under the sink or basin.
Adjustable and swivel traps are useful where pipework does not line up exactly, while flexible waste connectors can help with awkward under-sink installations. For simple repairs, trap washers, blanking caps and replacement fittings can often solve leaks without replacing the full trap.
